About yourself: I’ve been a student at WCC for about two years. I hope to graduate with my associate’s degree in the spring and transfer to another school in the fall. In my free time, I like to hang out with my two dogs and one cat–who are my world. I’m a book collector and find reading very mindful. My favorite genre is sci-fi! I love music and am a big fan of jazz and shoegaze.

Why are you at The Voice? After completing two successful semesters with The Voice, I had to come back and do one more before graduating. Journalism is so important, and providing newsworthy content for our campus community makes me really happy. The Voice is a great opportunity and I’m grateful to be a part of an amazing team.

Major: Digital Media Arts

About Yourself: I first enrolled at WCC in 2016 and, after finishing the Liberal Arts Transfer program, went on to dual major in English and Drama at The University of Michigan. I recently finished a certificate in Broadcast Media Arts and am currently working towards completing the Digital Media Arts program. When I’m not studying, I enjoy tea with my cats.

Why are you at The Voice? In addition to the fact that The Voice allows me to be more involved in the campus community while using my skills as a writer, it has been an invaluable opportunity to learn professional skills while surrounded by a supportive team.

About yourself: I have been a part-time student at WCC for about three years now. I plan on graduating from WCC after completing the winter semester in 2025. I am a proud member of WCC’s Honor Society, Phi Theta Kappa. I have two beautiful children that I would be absolutely lost without. My goal is to transfer to MSU in the fall of 2025 to continue pursuing my education in Journalism, with hopes of becoming an Investigative Journalist one day.

Why are you at The Voice? I am incredibly passionate about writing and even more so about helping others and making a difference in the lives of others. I take extreme pride and honor in being a staff writer for The Voice, with hopes of making a strong connection with students on campus, staff, and my team. I look forward to making memories and having incredible experiences that I will cherish and value forever.

About yourself: Fall 2024 will be my 3rd semester here at WCC. My goal is to graduate with an Associate in Journalism. Afterward, I plan to transfer to EMU to obtain a Bachelor’s in Media Studies and Journalism. I am a lover of peaceful moments, creativity, and the arts. Now that my only child is all grown up, I have more time to enjoy my passions. Whatever it is that I am doing, most likely there is an R&B track playing in the background.

Why are you at The Voice? One of my passions is writing. I joined The Voice team as a contributing writer last semester. I wasn’t sure what to expect but was pleasantly pleased with the way The Voice provided a hands-on experience in a newsroom that allowed me to enhance my writing skills and taught me new things that will be helpful in the future. I am eager to return as a staff writer to continue to learn while working with such an amazing team.

About Yourself: My name is Beck and this is my fourth semester at WCC. I hope to earn an associate’s degree and transfer to WMU (Go Broncos!). I’m a man of many mediums. I find my solitude in many places: behind the wheel, making/eating food, through writing and music, tinkering in the garage, and especially with friends. I have too many hobbies to list, so I’ll just say I’m good at finding new things to do. Of course, I wouldn’t be where I am today or alive without my loving mom who always pushed me out of my comfort zone into new opportunities.

Why are you at The Voice? I am here because I like writing, and I don’t think the world would get very far without the right messages. I really like working with the people in the newsroom, ever since I was a contributor a year ago, which is a big factor in my commitment to writing for the newspaper because everyone wants to help you if you just ask.

Major: Digital Photography Certificate

About yourself: I have been at WCC since 2018. After taking a break from school during the COVID shutdown of 2020, I returned to WCC in 2022 and finished my Associate’s in Graphic Design last spring. I am excited to be returning to The Voice this year as I pursue a certificate in Digital Photography! After finishing school, I want to work as an artist and designer, preferably continuing my work in print media as I have grown to love this field working at the Voice! Outside of school, my main hobbies are reading and clowning!

Why are you at The Voice? I believe it is important to deeply root yourself in your community, an opportunity that being a graphic designer for our student-led publication provides. I am proud to use my creativity for The Voice and that we have such an amazing & hardworking team!

About yourself: I enrolled in the WTMC program about 3 years ago and will soon graduate next year. When I’m not at school I love to hang out with friends/family and love going to the gym to workout and attend fitness classes. I love to explore new things around the area and try to stay outside as much as possible.

Why are you at The Voice? I am at The Voice because I want to experience what it’s like to work with a wonderful team. I first heard about The Voice from a friend and I was interested to see where things go and how it works. As I started working with everyone I felt we all became a family so quickly. I’m so excited to work with everyone!

Major: Photographic Technology

About yourself: I have been at WCC for almost four years now. I am very close to getting my associate degree in photography so that I can later transfer to EMU. When I’m not at school, I spend almost every morning at the gym working on my weightlifting skills and being home on the farm with my three dogs. I often read, watch movies, and take naps with them until the rest of the family gets home. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, drawing, and working on puzzles.

Why are you at The Voice? I returned to The Voice because I enjoy being part of this big team and working towards my goals as a photojournalist. I wasn’t able to pinpoint what I wanted to do with my photography career besides wanting to help others. Photojournalism allows me to help others by sharing their stories and giving them a voice. But most importantly, I can’t wait to make amazing memories with The Voice this year.

About yourself: This is my second and final semester at WCC, and I am thrilled to spend it with The Voice! I plan to transfer to EMU this fall for Communication Technology. My goal is to work as a web designer for small businesses. Outside of my studies, I enjoy spending time in nature and camping with my family. I love making music, gardening, reading, and playing D&D.

Why are you at The Voice? Working as the Digital Editor for The Voice is like a dream come true. I am thankful for all the hands-on experience I am gaining in this position. It’s a joy to be part of such a hard-working team, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to deliver our stories to our growing digital audience.

Major: Business Administration

About yourself: I’ve been a student at WCC for a little over a year now. In my free time, I love to exercise and write stories. My favorites to write are longer fantasy epics and short horror stories. Because of my autism, I’m a huge nerd on a lot of different topics and am obsessed with organization. Because of this, my goal is to become a supply chain and logistics manager where I can put my habit of organization to good use.

Why are you at The Voice? Newspapers are where two of my biggest passions writing and business overlap so I thought it would be a great fit for me! I’m also here to gain more experience in working with businesses and build connections through that.
