WCC students share the costumes they are most proud of
Izzy Van Wagnen, WTMC
“I chose this costume because I’m going to see Beetlejuice on Broadway for my birthday this year! I thought it was only fitting to dress up as Lydia. I bought all my items, but I intend to incorporate all but my wig into the wardrobe.”
Ness Newman, engineering:
“Well, last year I did a cosplay of Hannibal that I was pretty proud of! It was for Halloween. I put on makeup and pieces of my wardrobe together […] a blazer and a t-shirt. Most of Hannibal is funnily enough based on the actors’ faces, so the makeup is the biggest part.”
Elijah Amico, nursing: “I don’t remember most costumes I’ve done. When I was six, I was a Power Ranger – the red one, I believe. I was a huge fan of course.”
Trinity Campbell, pre-engineering science:
“The costume that stands out to me and first comes to mind would definitely have to be when I dressed as Hange Zoe from Attack on Titan. This costume specifically stands out because it’s the first costume that I saved up my own money for and really tried my best to look like the character. When you’re going as a character from something like a show or a game you can find really simple items that will easily let people realize who you’re dressing up as. I really like shopping from small businesses, so I used multiple different shops fromEtsy to find the pieces I need for the costume and then with the help of youTube was able to put together the harness belts.”
Colby Freeman: “I was a sorcerer. My grandma sews a lot, so I worked with her and made cloaks for me and all my friends. They all turned out really good.”
Genevieve Seward, undecided: “It was a gothic Little Red Riding Hood that I wore in 3rd or 4th grade. I bought the costume. The wig it came with was pinned in place. I wore black leggings underneath the costume. I really liked it because at the time I thought it made me look really cool. It was also easy to run in and had long sleeves, so it was more practical than other costumes I had worn.”
Brianna Gray, art:
“A few years ago I was the Girl with the Green Ribbon, which was cool and very easy to put together!”
Scooby Burton, transfer: “I remember being really excited as a kid about being Tinker bell and my mom bought me a pink butterfly dress. I went around like, “I’m Tinkerbell!” even though I obviously wasn’t. This year my girlfriend and I are planning on dressing up as Among Us characters and handing out candy, so that should be fun.”
Roan, linguistics:
“I really love the outside I’m wearing [for Hallow’s Eve]. It’s a medieval maiden outfit. I wear it to Renaissance Festivals, for Halloween, and to festivals my theatrical combat troupe goes to. The underskirt and top I made with my grandmother, and the over dress I bought from the Renaissance Festival. I love the sewing that I’ve done – I’m working on a skirt right now!”
